Use this prayer to help the leaders of your church know, communicate, and work towards God’s vision for your ministry.

Quick Prayer

Please pray aloud:
God only wise, would you please give the leaders of my church your vision for us?

Fill their hearts and minds with a picture of what your incomparably great power can do in and through us. Then, give them a boldness to pursue that vision, Lord—to make decisions about schedules and resources so we can fulfill it as soon as possible.

In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Full Prayer

Please pray aloud:
God only wise, would you please give the leaders of my church your vision for us?

When a leader can’t articulate where we are going or why we can’t stay where we are, disarray soon follows. Resources are wasted, energy is low, communication is muddy. All the while, an unbelieving world around us is dying! As your Word so rightly says, when there is no vision, the people perish.

Worse still would be a leader who has a vision for our church that is not from you, God. A leader who would use your church for their own selfish motives or to do what they think is right in their own eyes. Protect us from false prophets who speak a vision from their own hearts, Father.

Give my leaders your vision for our church.
—Pray for Your Church

Yes, God, give our leaders your vision for your church. Fill their hearts and minds with a picture of what your incomparably great power can do in and through us. Show our leaders your plans for us to reach our neighborhood, our city, even the world! Increase our faith, raise our expectations, quicken our pulse with what you can do in and through us, Lord.

And then, God, help our leaders communicate your vision to the people. Like Habakkuk said, to write it down and make it plain so that the people may understand. That every member, from the early adopter to the late adopter, may be a part of what you are doing while it is still called “today”.

Then, just as you give our leaders boldness to declare the vision, give them boldness to pursue it, Lord—to make decisions about schedules and resources so we can fulfill your vision as soon as possible. Give us the discernment and courage to say “no” to what’s good so we can say “yes” to what’s best.

May no plan of yours be thwarted, God. Let your purpose prevail, God. For nothing is impossible with you.

In Jesus’ name. Amen.
