Training and resources mean little if a leader is tired. Use this prayer to give the leaders of your church energy for the task at hand.

Quick Prayer

Please pray aloud:
Lord Almighty, like the Apostle Paul, may every leader in my church be able to say they “strenuously contend with all the energy that Christ so powerfully works” in them.

In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Full Prayer

Please pray aloud:
Lord Almighty, would you please give energy to the leaders of my church?

Yes, I’m asking you to give them energy from explainable sources like good sleep, good diet, ministry wins, or healthy teamwork. But I’m also asking you to give my leaders a supernatural energy that is impossible to explain by natural means. A strength that comes from you, God. Like the Apostle Paul described—a strength that endures in trouble, hardships and distress; that endures in violence, imprisonments, and persecution; that endures in hard work, sleepless nights, and hunger. Yes, God, give our leaders energy.

Fatigue in leadership can come from all sorts of places, whether from monotony or setbacks or opposition. Over time, a leader’s drive can wane, Lord, making even the simplest tasks feel burdensome and slow. When the leaders are tired, how soon until the health of a church also plateaus?

When the leaders are tired, how soon until the health of a church also plateaus?
—Pray for Your Church

But your Word gives unflinching promises for strength! You said you will strengthen us and help us and uphold us with your righteous right hand. You said you will renew the strength of those who wait on you, that you might raise them up with wings like eagles. You said you give power to the faint, and  to him who has no might you increase their strength. So come and do as you promise, Father, and strengthen the leaders of my church. Will you not revive us again, that your people may rejoice in you?

Give our leaders a newfound vigor and productivity to create, to train, to direct, to counsel, to study, to execute, to inspire, and to lead. Until every leader in my church can say they “strenuously contend with all the energy that Christ so powerfully works” in them.

In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Some of the Scripture used in today’s prayer:
