A leader’s integrity can change the health and effectiveness of a church. Use this prayer to help your leaders lead and live with integrity.
Quick Prayer
Please pray aloud: Righteous Father, give the leaders of my church integrity. Integrity in their motives, their decisions, their finances, relationships, work ethic, speech, and conduct. That our witness—and your kingdom—may not be compromised, Lord.

Full Prayer
Please pray aloud: Righteous Father, give the leaders of my church integrity.
A leader cannot lead without the trust of the people, God—trust that they’ll say and do as they ought. A trust that they won’t manipulate, deceive, or harm those they lead. And a trust that their character is worth following as much as their expertise. So make our leaders beyond reproach, Lord.
Give our leaders integrity in their motives. As the Apostle Paul warned, keep them from ulterior motives in the work of your kingdom. Whether it’s a desire for fame or a desire to manipulate people for personal gain, protect their hearts, God.
Give our leaders integrity in their decisions. Make them accountable for their mistakes and successes, God. Keep them from deflecting or shifting blame that is theirs to own, and remind them to share the praise whenever possible.
Give our leaders integrity in their finances. Keep them from greed or reckless spending. May they never use the gospel for dishonest gain, Father.
Give our leaders integrity in their relationships. Keep them from showing favoritism to the powerful or the beautiful. May they always be willing to associate with people of low position.
Give our leaders integrity in their work ethic. Help them work with diligent hands when it’s time to work, and to fully rest in you when it’s time to rest. Let neither success nor failure make them slothful. May they also be willing to do a task that is beneath their position.
Give our leaders integrity in their speech. Keep cursing from the lips they use to bless. Keep them from all gossip, all slander, all lies. Whenever they speak grace or truth to those they work with, make them mindful of their tone.
Give them integrity in conduct. Help them practice as they preach, and to handle themselves outside of the church as they do inside, regardless of who they are with. Keep them from having the appearance of godliness but denying its power.
Finally, God, give us grace and mercy towards our leaders when they fall short of Christ’s example. I ask all of this so our witness—and your kingdom—may not be compromised, Lord. That none would stumble on account of our hypocrisy. That your Spirit’s power would be on full display among us.
Give us integrity, God.
