Please pray aloud:
God of hope, give the leaders of my church positive attitudes. When they have an opportunity to complain, move their lips to give thanks. When their thoughts turns doubtful, fill their minds with reasons to believe.

As your Apostle once prayed, fill the leaders of my church with all joy and peace as they trust in you, so that they may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Full Prayer

Please pray aloud:
God of hope, give the leaders of my church positive attitudes!

Who else could have more optimism than your people? Who else could have more reason to rejoice than your children? You have given us an eternal inheritance that can never spoil and no thief can steal.

But leadership is not without challenges, God. Ministry comes with setbacks and hard decisions. Over time, these difficulties can pile up and weigh on a leader’s attitude and spirit, like a backpack growing heavier over a long hike. After the fatigue sets in, bitterness and negativity soon follow.

Just as a positive attitude makes a tight budget or conflict resolution easier, a negative attitude makes them harder. Like your Word says, “a cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.”

…Lord, protect your church by protecting the attitudes of our leaders.
—Pray for Your Church

So Lord, protect your church by protecting the attitudes of our leaders. Make them optimistic. I’m not asking for them to be blind to reality, but when they have an opportunity to complain, move their lips to give thanks. When their thoughts turns doubtful, fill their minds with reasons to believe. As your Apostle once prayed, fill the leaders of my church with all joy and peace as they trust in you, so that they may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Finally, God, let the positive attitudes of our leaders be contagious to those they lead. Make our church hopeful because our leaders are hopeful. Fill our minds with whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, whatever is excellent, whatever is praiseworthy.

So, once again, Lord, give the leaders of my church positive attitudes!

In Jesus’ name. Amen.
