Please pray aloud: We thank you for the way you’ve gifted our leaders, Lord, but for the church to truly flourish we need leaders who not only are gifted, but who also help others discover their giftedness. So come give our leaders a heart to mentor, that we may not only bear fruit, but that we may bear fruit that will last.

Please pray aloud: Heavenly Father, help our leaders become mentors.
Our leaders have a history of success, Lord. Others saw their results and entrusted them with a larger role. They were faithful with little and were made faithful with much. We thank you for the way you’ve gifted our leaders, Lord, but for the church to truly flourish we need leaders who not only are gifted, but who also help others discover their giftedness.
More than a great musician, we need a great leader who helps musicians do great things for your kingdom. More than a great accountant, we need a great leader who helps accountants do great things for your name. More than a great counselor, we need a great leader who helps counselors do great things for your glory. Oh, how your church flourishes when leaders become mentors and “equip the saints for the work of the ministry”!
…for our church to truly flourish we need leaders who are not only gifted, but who also help others discover their giftedness.

Then, as our leaders mentor others, give them patience when their students make mistakes. Give them wisdom to not teach too much too quickly. Give them discretion to speak truth with grace.
You are the God who multiplies! So come give our leaders a heart to multiply. Give them a heart to measure success by their successors. Give them a heart for legacy. Like Paul mentored Timothy. Like Moses and Joshua. Like Elijah and Elisha. Like Christ with his disciples. Do the same among us, God. That we may not only bear fruit, but that we may bear fruit that will last.
