In part four of our series of prayers about Scripture, use this prayer to help your church believe in God’s Word.
Quick Prayer
Please pray aloud: Gracious Lord, help my church to believe in your Word! Give us a heart to believe your Word is without error, that your Word is eternal, that your Word is unchanging, and that your Word is unfailing. As your Son once spoke, give us ears to hear, Lord!
In Jesus’ name. Amen.
Full Prayer
Please pray aloud: Gracious Lord, help my church to believe in your Word!
Give us a heart to believe your Word is without error—
Correct us from the faithless thinking that these are the words of men, Father. Move in our hearts until each of us believes every letter of Scripture bears your breath. We confess that it was you and you alone speaking by your Spirit through the prophets and Apostles, Lord. We repent of the wisdom of this world and any deceptive human philosophy that would make us doubt your sacred Scripture, O God. We believe, Lord, help our unbelief!
Give us a heart to believe that your Word is eternal—
Change us from ever thinking that your Word is like any other book and submits to the constraints of time or creation. Help us believe your Word was with you before the world began and will be with you after heaven and earth pass away.
We will not harden our hearts! We will not stiffen our necks! We will not dull our ears! As your Son once spoke, give us ears to hear, Lord!

Give us a heart to believe that your Word is unchanging—
Make every soul in my church remember that you are the same yesterday, today, and forever. Your Word is clear that you do not change your mind like a human being, or shift like the shadows, neither can your Word cannot be set aside. Move us to submit fully to your Word, until every teaching and idea and philosophy inside our church is held beneath the standard of your Word.
Give us a heart to believe that your Word is unfailing—
Make us cling tighter and tighter to your Scripture until we hold fast to every promise and command. No Word from you will ever fail, God, no prophecy is a lie. Make my church a church who can testify that no one who trusts in your Word will be put to shame!
We will not harden our hearts!
We will not stiffen our necks!
We will not dull our ears!
As your Son once spoke, give us ears to hear, Lord!
In Jesus’ name. Amen.
