Use this prayer from our series of prayers on spiritual warfare to help your church overcome the deception of the evil one.
Quick Prayer
Please pray aloud: Deliver us from evil, O God! Your Word warns us the Devil is the Deceiver, and works to deceive your Church like he worked to deceive Eve and he worked to deceive your Son. Expose the places where Satan makes the truth look wrong, Lord, and expose the places where he makes the wrong look true.
In Jesus’ name. Amen.
Full Prayer
Please pray aloud: Deliver us from evil, O God! Your Word tells us that evil is waging a war against you and your Church. Forgive us for the times we fail to remember or take seriously our role in the unseen warfare in the spiritual realm.
This day, in the mighty name of Jesus, I pray against the deception of the evil one.
Your Word warns us the Devil is the Deceiver, and works to deceive your Church like he worked to deceive Eve and he worked to deceive your Son. He is the Father of Lies, and cannot tell the truth. He is a serpent, disguised to harm us, masquerading as an angel of light. Deception is never obvious, God, so come and protect my church.
Expose the places where Satan twists the truth or makes the truth look wrong, Lord—Where the wisdom of the world and cultural trends call your commands into question, help us to side with the truth. Cast out any rebellious spirit from our church. Destroy every argument and cast down every lofty opinion raised against you. Let your commands be unchallenged and your authority be unrivaled in my church, Lord.
Expose the places where the Deceiver makes the wrong look true—Where he twists and distorts the purity of your Word with worldly wisdom that itches our ears. Remove the sheep’s clothing from the wolves, God! We know in the end times many will depart from the faith by deceitful spirits and teachings of demons. Give us the strength to resist any false prophets, false miracles, or false visions. Let your gospel always be purely proclaimed from our pulpit, God. Sanctify us by your truth.
But in all of this, make us unafraid. Remind us that you are greater than the one who is in this world, Lord. Remind us that we are more than conquerors through Christ. Remind us that your Church will not be overcome!
In Jesus’ name. Amen.
