…I bring you good news of great joy which is for all people.
Luke 2:10 (NLV)
Full Prayer
Please pray aloud:
Everlasting Father, I come to you now interceding for “all people” who come to the Christmas Eve service at my church, that they would know how Jesus brings them good news of great joy, specifically—
I pray for those at my church who are celebrating their last Christmas. Let the story of Christ’s birth give them the strength they need for the challenging days ahead.
I pray for those at my church who are celebrating their first Christmas with us, either as a new believer or as a guest. Give them a new and deep appreciation for the gift of your Son, and let it inspire them to a year of growth in faith and service here with my church.
I pray for those at my church who are wrestling with doubts this Christmas. Let the simple truth and clarity of the historical account of Christ’s birth renew their faith. Fill their hearts with wonder and faith in the miracle of Christ’s birth. Let the Light of Life once again cast out the shadows of doubt from the corners of their heart.
I pray for those at my church who are struggling this December, whether in finances or in health or in relationships. Remove their anxieties from them this Christmas Eve, that they may rejoice and be glad at the birth of your Son who came to rescue them from every curse of sin.
I pray for those at my church who are stagnant or listless in their faith life this season. Capture their hearts with the magnitude of the gift of a Savior. Burn, stir, and break their hearts by your Spirit until they rejoice like the shepherd’s of Bethlehem.
I pray for those at my church who feel alone this year. Let the true presence of Jesus and his Spirit give them a real and lasting peace that overwhelms even the deepest of theirs sorrows. Impress the idea of Immanuel, God with Us, deeper and deeper into their hearts until they rejoice and are glad.
In Jesus’ name. Amen.
