Please pray aloud: Lord Almighty, I come to you now asking you to develop the leaders of my church.
Specifically, God, I lift up… Take a moment to name any leaders at your church who come to mind.
In your wisdom, you care for your people by raising up shepherds to unite, protect, guide, and prosper them. From Moses to the Apostles to the leaders of my church, thank you for the leaders you have chosen, Father.
Your Word tells us leadership is a gifting of your Spirit, God. So come by your Holy Spirit and pour out your supernatural gift of leadership on the leaders of my church. Fill them to overflowing, that we may rejoice in their instincts, their energy, and their boldness. Help them assess our health as a body, God. Show them how to close the gap between where we are and where you want us to be. Just as your people can wither under poor leadership, flourish us under the care of these shepherds!
Your gifts can be developed, God, and your gifts can be neglected.

Your gifts can be developed, God, and your gifts can be neglected. So as you move in these servants, I ask that they would take steps to fan into flame that gift within them and keep developing as leaders. Show them how much depends on their leadership. Inspire them with the potential of what you can do when they are dedicated to your calling and your cause. Let that vision give them passion and initiative to grow as leaders of your church.
Make them students of leadership, God. Show them the small steps they can take to grow in ability, communication, or character. Show them how to minimize their weaknesses, and how to maximize their strengths. Give them diligence to continue growing when their initial enthusiasm wanes. Give them patience if progress ever slows.
Finally, Father, let them see—and enjoy—the fruits of their labor. Wherever and however they strive as leaders, give them big and small wins that refresh their spirits and renew them for the task at hand.
I pray all of this that the greatness of your name and your kingdom may increase.
In Jesus’ name. Amen.
