Renew a steadfast spirit within us. Give us a new heart for you, a new mind for you, and a new strength for you. Let the old be gone and the new come, regardless of our age or personality or tenure in the faith.

Your Word says our old self is crucified with Christ. Your Word says you raise us to a new life in baptism. Your Word says we are a new creation in Christ. So, Lord forgive us if the newness ever wears off for us and we lose our zeal for you. Come renew a steadfast spirit within us!
Give my church a new heart for you. A heart overwhelmed with a new grief for our sin. A heart overflowing with a new gratefulness for your grace. A heart bursting with a new affection for your kindness, Father. A heart beating with a new agony for your mission to save a perishing world.

Give my church a new mind for you. A new mind to discover the truth of your Word. A new mind to think on the good and pleasing. A new mind to govern our actions and tame our tongue.
Give my church a new strength for you. To worship together with new faithfulness. To spend time with you in prayer and your Word with new devotion. To give with new generosity. To serve our neighbor and live out your new command to love with a new passion.
I join my voice with the Psalmist and ask, will you not revive us again, that your people may rejoice in you?
Do you not put a new song in our mouth?
Do you not give new mercies every morning?
Do you not make a new heaven and new earth?
Do the same within us, Lord! Let the old be gone and the new come. Regardless of our age or personality or tenure in the faith, make us like a new spring in the desert. Give us new wine in new wineskins. Come make my church new this year!
