In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Full Prayer

Please pray aloud:
Gracious Lord, I lift up to you those appointed as Elders of my church. Specifically, I intercede for… [Take a moment to name the Elders of your church.]

Remind them you have called them to a noble task worthy of double honor. Let them lead my church, not under compulsion, but willingly, not domineering, but as servants.

Help them live above reproach in all their ways. Make them self-controlled, respectable, hospitable to strangers, upright, holy, and disciplined. May they be sober instead of indulgent, gentle instead of violent, peaceful instead of quarrelsome, generous instead of greedy. All so that they may be well regarded by believers and non–believers alike.

Remind the Elders of my church they have been appointed to a noble task worthy of double honor.
—Pray for Your Church

Father, help them to manage the relationships and activities of their own household well, that they may care for your church with the same  level of excellence. Keep them faithful to their wives and bless their marriage. May their children also have a sincere and growing faith with a submissive and godly heart.

In their home and in my church, help them hold firmly to your truth, and make them able to teach, that sound doctrine may take root and false teaching be uprooted. Fill them with wisdom, fill them with joy, and fill them with your Holy Spirit.

Finally, God, protect these shepherds of the church from all the attacks of the evil one, that your flock may flourish, so that when our chief Shepherd appears they too will receive the unfading crown of glory.

In Jesus’ name. Amen.
