Use this prayer to bless and encourage those serving behind–the–scenes on the Communion Team at your church.

Quick Prayer

Please pray aloud:
Sovereign Lord, I come to you now praying for those who serve on the Communion Team at my church.

When your Church was growing in Jerusalem, the Apostles’ chose people full of wisdom and your Spirit to handle the distribution of food—so fill these servants with your wisdom and fill them with your Spirit! And when we celebrate this meal their hands have prepared, participating in the mystery of Christ’s body and blood as your Word teaches, give the Communion Team members a deep gratitude that you used them to make this moment possible.

In Jesus’ name. Amen.

These servants often go unnoticed, working in the background, like the unnamed man who prepared the Passover and the Upper Room for your Son. Remind them you are the God who sees their hidden service, and that you celebrate faithful service in the mundane, so their hearts don’t grow resentful. Renew within them a sense of reverence for the awesome task of administering your grace in its various forms.

When your church was growing in Jerusalem, the Apostles’ chose people full of your wisdom and your Spirit to handle the distribution of food—

So fill the Communion Team with wisdom, God! If there are things they can do to streamline pouring the wine and dividing the bread, give them that insight. If there are costs or waste they can reduce, give them that discernment. If there are things they can do to simplify the distribution, give them that vision.

Fill the Communion Team to overflowing with your Spirit!

In Jesus’ name. Amen.
