Your Word calls us to a life of worship—to die to ourselves daily, to rejoice always, to read constantly, to pray continually, to give consistently, and to worship regularly.
But I confess, Lord, the longer we live in the faith, the more likely we are to become inconsistent. We begin the faith with passion and enthusiasm, but that fervor can wane over time. The grace once amazing becomes familiar. The relationship once new becomes routine. As your Son notes, our love can grow cold, and we become lukewarm in the faith that once burned with intensity.
Forgive us for the times we falter, Lord. Pardon us for the times we slumber and fail to keep watch for your return.
Once again, fan into flame the embers of faith within us!

Once again, fan into flame the embers of faith within us! Renew our perseverance to this marathon of becoming like Christ. Help us to grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord Jesus. To put childish ways behind us. To leave elementary doctrine and go on to maturity. To rededicate our entire lives to your mission. There are still souls in peril! The day is drawing near when no one can work!
Yes, Lord. Accomplish this among every believer in my church, regardless of their age. As your Word says, “Until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of your Son, to mature into adulthood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ.” To him be the glory in us, both now and forever.
In Jesus’ name. Amen.
