Heavenly Father, I ask that you would make my church more Christ-like in the year ahead. As your Word says, help us to grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To dive deeper into his teachings, to marvel sweeter at his mercy, to follow closer in his way.
Make us like Christ, God!

Heavenly Father, I ask that you would make my church more Christ-like in the year ahead.
As your Word says, help us to grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To dive deeper into his teachings, to marvel sweeter at his mercy, to follow closer in his way. This year, help us grow up in every way into Christ who is our head, O Lord!
To that end, I pray that we would not carry any gossip or grudges into the new year. That we would have the kindness and compassion of Jesus towards one another, offering each other the same forgiveness we ourselves have received through him.
I pray also that you would move us to new depths of Christ-like service towards one another and our community in the new year. Give us open eyes and willing hands to serve the least of these, God. Loosen even more our grip on our luxuries, our schedules, our wealth, our safety, for the sake of the One who made himself nothing for us.
In the same way, make us like your Son in our purity. Just as he knew no sin, help us grow into his righteousness with ever-increasing measure and leave behind all that defiles—the lust, theft, greed, malice, deceit, slander, and arrogance from which he has saved us.
Help us lower ourselves deeper into the humility of Christ, Father. To make ourselves last. To suffer for your kingdom. To empty ourselves for your gain. To surrender our will. To bear our cross. To lose our life that we may find it in you, Lord.
Finally, like your Son, this year may my church grow in intimacy with you, Father. To be one with you. To glorify you. To call on you in our every need. To please you and to be wholly pleased in you.
Make us like Christ, God!
