This is Part I of a prayer using the very words Jesus prayed with his disciples in John 17:6-10.
My encouragement for this prayer is to keep a specific person in mind as you pray these words!
Gracious Father, may my church ever reveal you to those whom you gave us out of the world.
Help us to remember these souls you entrusted to us belong to you; you gave them to us and they have obeyed your word and they have learned that everything we have comes from you. We have given them the words you gave us, and they accepted them. Help them to ever know with certainty that Jesus came from you.
I pray for your followers at my church. I am not praying for the world, but for those you have given us, for they are yours. Be glorified with all we have for all we have is yours, just as you gave all you have to your Son that he may be glorified through his followers.
In Jesus’ name. Amen.
