Full Prayer

This is part II of a set of prayers using Solomon’s prayer at the dedication of his temple in 1 Kings 8 as an outline to pray for your church.

Please pray aloud:

When anyone who has wronged their neighbor comes inside our church, hear from heaven and act! Holy Spirit, move to bring reconciliation, reveal guilt, and vindicate the innocent.

When any who has rebelled against you comes inside our church, and turns back to you to give praise to your name and pray and make supplication to you in this place, then hear from heaven and forgive their sin and bring them back to fellowship with your people.

When the heavens are shut up and there is no rain and your people are in need and they offer prayers in this place to praise your name and turn from their sin, then hear from heaven. Forgive them, teach them the right way to live, provide for them, and send rain on the land.

When famine or plague or war or disaster comes upon us, and your people bring their prayers and pleas to you and spreads out their hands toward you in this house— then hear from heaven, your dwelling place. Forgive and act in our behalf, that we may fear you all the days of their lives.

In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Then Solomon stood before the altar of the Lord. And in front of all the people of Israel he lifted his hands toward heaven.
