Heavenly Father, consume us with a zeal for your house! Forgive us for any time we came to church and honored you with our lips but our hearts were far from you, wooed and distracted by the concerns of this life. Let there be a joyful noise in your sanctuary this Sunday, God, and shouts of praise worthy of your great name!

Heavenly Father, consume us with a zeal for your house!
Fulfill your Word among us and make our souls long, yes, even faint to be in your courts, Lord. Stir in us by your Spirit until we draw into fellowship with one another and with you this Sunday. Fill us with anticipation and excitement to enter your gates with thanksgiving.
Forgive us if we’ve ever lacked in zeal, God. For the times we worshiped with mindless repetition. For any time we came to church and honored you with our lips but our hearts were far from you, wooed and distracted by the concerns of this life. Restore to us the joy of your salvation!
Let everyone who gathers with us this Sunday say to one another the words of your disciples, “Did not our hearts burn within us?”

Let your forgiveness warm the cold heart. Enliven the dead heart. Quicken the slothful heart. Waken the dull heart. Release the restrained heart. Until there is a joyful noise in your sanctuary, God, and shouts of praise worthy of your resurrection! Loud is the Psalmists’ praise, loosen our tongues to do the same.
