This is Part I of a prayer using the very words Jesus prayed with his disciples in John 17:1-5.
Please pray aloud:
Father in heaven, here in this hour and in my church I ask that you would glorify your Son. Lift his words and his works higher and higher, that your Son may glorify you, also.
You are so gracious and giving, Father. You have given your Son authority over all people, that he might give eternal life to all those you have given him. Help us to know eternal life, even now in our every day life, because we know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.
Just as your Son brought you glory on earth by finishing the work you gave him to do, help us to do the same, Lord. What is our work, God? Where have you called us? What is our cross to bear? That you and your Son may be glorified together, in our time and in our actions and in our church, with the same eternal glory you shared with him before the world began.
