“Who then is the faithful and wise manager, whom the master puts in charge of his servants?” Luke 12:42
Quick Prayer
Please pray aloud:
Good and gracious Lord, I come to you now asking for your help for those entrusted with setting our church budget. We can spend money as we see fit, but we can see no further than today, so give us your wisdom of the future, God. From the salaries to the departments to our generosity towards outsiders, help us to be faithful with the little you have entrusted to us that we may be faithful with even more.
In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Please pray aloud:
Good and gracious Lord, I come to you now asking for your help for those entrusted with setting our church budget.
Your people have been generous, God, and we thank you for their giving prompted by love. They’ve shared freely from their wealth for the good of your church—some gave a little, some gave the tenth you command, some even gave more.
But still there are more needs than we have money for, and we need your wisdom.
We can spend money as we see fit, but we can see no further than today, so give us your wisdom, God!

We can spend money as we see fit, but we can see no further than today, so give us your wisdom of the future, God. Your word says you know all things, declaring the end from the beginning, so give us your foresight and insight to budget for the future you alone can see. Lead us in the hard work of measuring our expenses in each department; precept upon precept, line upon line, cent upon cent.
Help us to be generous to our staff, and not be a hinderance to them, because the worker is worth their wages. Far be it from us to ever force them to choose between doing good and doing well.
Help us to consider the poor among us, and to give to those beyond the walls of our church.
Help us to care for our facilities, setting aside an appropriate amount for maintenance and upgrades. You Word commands us to know the condition of our flock, so give us prudence, Lord.
Help us to fund our departments for growth, and to invest in those which will grow your kingdom the most. Make us judicious, and help us to make the hard decision to cut expenses that don’t align with the mission, vision, or values you have given us.
We want to be good stewards, God, we want to know the cost before we begin building this year. We want to be faithful and wise managers of your wealth, for you have set us over your household. So lead us, God, to be faithful with the little you have entrusted to us that we may be faithful with even more.
In Jesus’ name. Amen.
