Full Prayer

Please pray aloud:
Gracious Father, I come to you now praying for those who do not have faith in Christ.

I ask that you draw them. Your Son was clear, no one can come to you unless you draw them, Father. So reach out your hand, by your Holy Spirit, and draw them to you. Give them the gift of faith! Count them among your elect! Even now, in this moment, reach across the divide once again.

I ask that you send your Word to them. If faith can only come by hearing your Word, send it to them! Let them hear your words that describe their peril—how they are at risk of eternal torment apart from you in outer darkness. Let them hear your words that describe their forgiveness—how you sent your Son to die their death for their sins. Let them hear your words that describe their salvation—how they can live forever by believing in their heart and confessing with their lips that he is the risen Lord. Let your Word accomplish the purpose for which you sent it.

I ask that they would have ears to hear. Some are deaf from pride, some are deaf from worry, some are deaf from greed, and some are deaf with rebellion. Whatever it is that makes it difficult for them to receive your Word, God, take it away. Give them ears to hear! Break the stiff necks. Soften the dull and calloused heart. Touch their ears and shout Ephphatha! once again that they may hear and believe. Let the seed of your Word take deep root in the good soil of their hearts and bear much fruit for your glory.

Like a thief plundering a house, Lord, bind the strongman and rescue the captives inside!
—Pray for Your Church

I ask that they would have eyes to see. Your Word tells us that some do not believe in your Son because the god of this age has blinded them. Our modern wisdom and cultural norms have darkened their understanding, making it difficult to see your truth. Show them how their thinking is futile. Show them how their wisdom has deceived them. Let the light of your truth pierce through the deception and distortion, that they may see. Make them like the little children your Son praised. Open the eyes of the blind, once again, Lord!

I ask that they would feel empty. It’s hard to pray, Lord, but if they are building their life on the empty things of this world, open their eyes to its vanity. Let the rains and winds reveal the foundation of sand. Show them how good things cannot be ultimate things. Let the delicacies and the luxuries feel hollow. Show them how their idols cannot save that they may look to you, Father. Make their hearts restless until it rests in you, O God!

I ask that you would bind the strongman. God, we affirm what your Word teaches—that their salvation is warfare. Our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against spiritual forces in the heavenly realms fought with weapons of the Spirit. Your heavenly kingdom is at war with the kingdom of darkness, and there are no neutral parties. So come, by your Holy Spirit and your legions of angels and fight for them, God. Like a thief plundering a house, Lord, bind the strongman and rescue the captives inside!

Let your kingdom come!

In Jesus’ name. Amen.
