Use this confession and prayer through the armor of God in Ephesians 6 to help your church take a stand against the evil one.
Quick Prayer
Please pray aloud: Help my church to put on your full armor, God, so that when evil comes this day, we may be able to stand our ground.
Help us to stand firm with the belt of truth buckled around our waists, the breastplate of righteousness in place, and our feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. Help us to take up now the shield of faith and extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Help us to strap on the helmet of salvation. Help us to grip a sharp sword of your Spirit, which is your Word. And move us to pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests.
In Jesus’ name. Amen.
Full Prayer
Please pray aloud: I confess my church has not put on your full armor, God.
Far too often, we have not withstood the devil’s schemes. Far too often, we’ve forgotten our struggle is against spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Far too often, we have not put on your full armor—
Your belt of truth has been uncinched. Your breastplate of righteousness has been loose. Our feet have not been fit with readiness of the gospel. Far too often, your shield of faith hung heavy in our hands, leaving us exposed to the flaming arrows of the evil one. We’ve unstrapped the helmet of salvation and failed to sharpen the sword of your Spirit.
But not today, Lord.
Today, make us strong in your mighty power! Help us put on your full armor this day, so that we can take a stand against the devil’s schemes. Remind us that our struggle is not against the things of this world, but against the rulers, authorities, powers of darkness, and spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.
Help my church to put on your full armor, God, so that when evil comes this day, we may be able to stand our ground.
