Center my church on Christ, O Lord. May our church be a picture of the crowds of Galilee gathered around him. Pressing in to see him, hear him, speak with him, even touch him!

Please pray aloud:
Center my church on Jesus, Lord.
Your Word instructs us to fix our eyes on Jesus and to remain in him just as he remains in us. Your Word tells us he is the head of the body, the church, and he holds all things together. If we have stepped out from that authority or headship, show us, Father. If we are fixing our eyes on other things, convict us, Lord.
How are we self-centered? How are we issue-centered? Have we elevated secondary things over Jesus? Have we forgotten our first love? Are we taking up another cause besides his? Holy Spirit, shine a light on any idolatry, that we may give preeminence to Christ alone.
Just as the worshipers once gathered around his manger, just as the nations now circle his throne, center my church on Jesus.

Center our worship services, our preaching, our music on Jesus. Center our programs, our events, and our meetings on Jesus. Center our budget, our conversations, and our leadership on Jesus. Center our relationships, our homes, and our decisions on the name above every name. The name that makes demons tremble. The only name by which we must be saved.
Center us on Jesus, Lord. Him, the person. More than the idea or concept of him. More than his teachings or morality. Him, whose voice commanded the waves, whose eyes looked with compassion on the crowds, whose hand healed the leper.
Just as the worshipers once gathered around his manger, just as the nations now circle his throne, center my church on Jesus. Make us like the crowds of Galilee gathered around him, pressing in just to see him, just to hear him, just to speak with him, just to touch him!
