Please pray aloud:
O Giver of every good and perfect gift, you have uniquely formed and shaped each person in our congregation with different abilities. And yet so many in our church have yet to serve, God.
Some have opted out of service because of fatigue, Lord. For these servants, refresh their spirits and remind them of the glorious joy of serving in your kingdom. Show them, once again, how their gifts and abilities are essential to our congregation.
Others have opted out of service because they conclude someone else will meet the need. For these servants, remind them they are called to serve, regardless of the need. Remind them that they follow a Savior who came, not to be served, but to serve. Move them, O God, to follow their serving Savior into a service of their own.
Others have opted out of service because they undervalue their gifts, believing their gift of carpentry or quilting or photography is dispensable or less honorable. Remind the hearts and minds of these servants that the church is one body with many parts, and that every part is needed for the good, the growth, and the glory of your kingdom. Mobilize every part of your Body for service, O God!
Engage every part of your Body for service, O God! Share on: Twitter
For the leadership of the church, God, help them to identify the gifts and abilities that lie fallow in our congregation. Help them recognize when people are spread too thin and in need of assistance. Help them create systems to identify and engage your people in service, God. Protect them from the mindset that they are the ones who should pick up the slack. Help them recruit others. Help them train and develop others. Help them lead.
In Jesus’ name. Amen.
As it is, there are many parts, but one body.
